POOL HALL

Playing pool is one of my favourite ways to chill while with friends and having some drinks. I didn’t think I was going to get any good frames here since I’ve never been here before but once I saw Rain’s blue shirt matching the blue tables and the over head bright lights, I was immeadiately inspired. I lost every game to Rain and my cousin, but I won with these shots

VIETNAMESE FOOD

Sometimes a photowalk doesn’t produce anything great but sitting down for lunch across from your bestfriend at the perfect window seat with great lighting and a view of the lake definitely does. Bonus points for the food being absolutely fire. From here we continued our date at the Pool Hall

SEAFOOD CITY

2023 was all about doing more for my goals and letting myself know this is what I want to do. Finding new places to bring my camera, or just bringing my camera out in general, is always the number one goal to bring up my confidence as a photographer. Rain and I were picking up his parents from the airport and we love to stop at Jollibee for dinner and shop at this Filipino grocery store. My intention was to take photos at the airport but I didn’t find anything shot worthy there and was more inspired in the grocery store lighting

PHOTOWALK 3

Part of my photography journey is breaking out of my shell. I have to find ways to get closer to people, to not be shy when I bring my camera out, and I thought that if I shot at night I could blend in better to do these things. Night photos are definitely a thing, but as a beginner and longing for day time golden hour shots with lots of people wandering around, these photos didn’t hit as expected. But in doing it this way I realized that I was avoiding and shying away from my goals so I snapped portraits of Rain to not feel totally empty handed

PHOTODRIVE

The past couple of summers I had been doing drives down by the Falls. I didn't bring my camera often but when I did I learned quickly that the passenger seat of a car is not ideal for taking street photography. There’s a reason you walk to get shots. So Rain parked for me to get out and get the graffiti shots but the hotel sign I got from the car. I see this graffiti a lot and wanted to get a shot of it before the building gets torn down or painted over

PORTRAITS WITH JESSICA

Street photography is a candid practice where street portraiture is a directed practice. Both use the streets and natural light to form compositions. Street portraits can be harder to create sometimes. I have Rain who is so easy to take pictures of but I need to experience other energies if I want to reach new growth. So this session I met up with Jessica in Hamilton for some badass portraits with her car

1492 LAND BACK LANE

My good friend Shawn plays keys in a band called Ol’ Child. They played at 1492 Land Back Lane as part of the Unity celebrations for their success in protecting their land. I didn’t have the best lens to get tighter shots of the band as I was trying to respect the space but I really like the overall vibe that I got in these photos. TURKEY POINT

October my family decided to go to a cottage in a beach town. It did not seem like I would be venturing outside much due to weather but it stayed pretty nice out and we were able to explore the local downtown, walked the surrounding neighbourhood and my brother drove us up to a nice vista overlooking what I think was a swamp which was the best part of the trip. I was able to get some inspiration pockets spread throughout this time and got some really nice images to show for it
